Supporting People With Disabilities To Lead Independent Lives In Their Community
Programs and Services
Services are provided at R.O.O.C., Inc. based on your needs and the funding provided to meet those needs. Generally, there are no “out-of-pocket” costs for the client/family if the client is referred by Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) and/or Community Mental Health (CMH) and qualifies for Medicaid services. If you are not eligible for Medicaid services, we accept private payments. You may choose a single service or a blend of services to help you achieve your goals. Our services are provided with a “person-centered” focus and you are encouraged to make your own choices and decisions based on your strengths and individual needs. The typical hours of operation at R.O.O.C., Inc. are 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, however, days and hours may vary by service. R.O.O.C., Inc. is closed for all major holidays, as well as staff professional development days. A R.O.O.C. calendar is published in June of each year.
Community Integration
Community Integration is designed to help persons served to develop the skills to live a full and independent life in the community. Individuals may participate in a variety of community life experiences or interactions in order to develop these skills. The organization defines the scope of these services and supports based on the identified needs and desires of the persons served. Community outings and classroom activities are both used to teach these skills, however, involvement in the community through interaction and participation is a priority.
Community Employment Services
Work is a fundamental part of adult life. Community Employment Services provides services and supports to individuals to choose, achieve and maintain employment in integrated community employment settings. Customized training, placement assistance, job coaching, follow-up services and any other support that may be needed are provided to the individual based on their choices and preferences to help them reach their maximum potential.
Organizational Employment Services
Organizational Employment Services are designed to provide paid work within the organization to the persons served while developing the skills needed to work in a community setting. Based on the needs and choices of the persons served, job support training and resources are provided in a variety of areas to help the person meet identified employment goals.
Employee Development Services
Employee Development Services are services and supports that assist persons seeking employment to develop or re-establish skills, attitudes, personal characteristics, interpersonal skills, work behaviors and functional capacities. Current vocational skills are evaluated and an individualized plan is developed based on an individual’s needs, strengths, skills and desires. The design of services is specific to the employment objectives of the person seeking employment.
Employment Skills Training Services
Employment Skills Training Services provide persons seeking employment with the opportunity to be trained and acquire the skills necessary for specific jobs or families of jobs. Courses and training programs are designed to meet the needs of the workforce as identified by area employers.
Community Living Supports Services
Respite and Community Living Supports Services are available for persons with serious mental illness or developmental disabilities. Respite is a support available to families and caregivers designed to offer temporary relief from ongoing responsibilities. A respite break can be time for the caregiver to leave the home while a respite provider stays in the home to care for the individual for a short time or extended time, or time for the respite care provider to take the
individual out of the home to allow the caregiver a break at home. Out-of-home overnight care is not available. Community Living Supports is an opportunity for persons served to participate actively in the community.
